Ice water hash, also called bubble hash, is washed from the plant with ice and water, then sorted through micron bags so only the cleanest resin heads are kept. Washed from fresh frozen material it keeps the live terpene profile, and the best of it melts completely: full melt.
What is ice water hash?
Ice water hash, also called bubble hash, is made by washing cannabis in ice-cold water. The cold makes the resin heads brittle, gentle agitation knocks them loose, and the water carries them through a series of mesh bags with different micron sizes. Each bag holds heads of a certain size, which are collected, dried and cured.
Full melt and star grades
The cleanest ice water hash melts completely when heated, leaving almost nothing behind. That's what "full melt" means. Many makers grade their hash on a six-star scale, with five and six stars reserved for the cleanest melt. Terms like "first wash" describe resin collected in the first, gentlest round of washing.
Ice water hash vs dry sift
Ice water hash uses water; dry sift and static sift don't. Each method brings out something different in the resin. See them side by side in bubble hash vs dry sift, or read the full ice water hash guide. Pressed with heat, ice water hash becomes hash rosin.
