Hash is the resin of the cannabis plant, separated from the flower and collected into something you can hold. Every style is here, sorted by type: static sift, dry sift, frozen sift, ice water hash, filtered hash, mousse hash and pressed hash. Not sure where to start? The Hash Guide explains how each one is made.
Blue Magic Static Sift
Hash, sorted by how it's made
Every hash starts the same way: with the resin heads of the cannabis plant, the tiny golden glands that hold its cannabinoids and terpenes. What makes one hash different from another is how those heads are separated from the flower, and what happens to them afterwards. That's why this shop sorts hash by method instead of by name.
The styles on the menu
- Static sift: dry sift cleaned with static electricity, which lifts away plant matter and leaves the heads.
- Dry sift: resin sifted from dried, cured flower through fine screens, graded by micron.
- Frozen sift: dry sift made from fresh frozen plants, sifted cold.
- Ice water hash: bubble hash, washed with ice and water and sorted through micron bags.
- Filtered hash: sift run through extra rounds of fine filters.
- Mousse hash: soft hash with a creamy, almost whipped texture.
- Pressed hash: temple balls, piattella, slabs and egg hash.
How to read a hash label
Two numbers do most of the talking. The micron range (written "73u" or "90-120u") tells you which screens or bags the resin passed through: heads of a similar size are collected together, and the range that holds the most mature heads usually gives the cleanest result. Terms like "WPFF" (whole plant fresh frozen) and "first wash" tell you the starting material and when in the process the resin was collected. Our guide to bubble hash vs dry sift explains the methods side by side.
Keep it fresh
Hash keeps best airtight, cool and dark. Heat softens it and light fades the aroma, so a sealed jar in a drawer beats a shirt pocket every time. More in how to store hash.
